Reading Some More 2011

In 2010 I outdid myself: I read 74 books.  Now, I know in my pre-teen and teen years I read more books than that in a year (mostly when I was addicted to Sweet Valley High, Nancy Drew, and The Baby-sitter's Club), but I guarantee you that this was the most books I've read any year of my adult life.  When I finished up the last one of the year, coincidentally the current last one of a series, my husband looked at me, pleadingly, and said:

"You can stop reading now, right?"

I wish.

I am addicted to the written word.  It is my escape, my ultimate down time.  Of course I can't stop; but I hope to slow down a little.  The current goal is just to stay consistently reading and read no less than 2 books per month.

I'm already halfway through January's goal.

That being said, allow me to introduce you to the Reading Log of 2011!  If you are looking for book suggestions, feel free to check back here every once in a while.  And, please, as always, suggest something new, too.  I make good on them!

Roxy Reads Again (Reading Log 2010)

Now that I've finished reading my second book of 2010, I figured it was time to start up my reading log for the third year in a row! In 2008 I ended up reading 71 books. In 2009 I finished the year out with 39 books, most of them rereads. Looking back at the lists, you can tell when life was slow and when it got busy (like when my kids' homework overtook my time to read). There was also the month last year when I discovered the beauty of Netflix online and my escape time became movies instead of books.

I'm still reading, still OCD enough to keep track of what I've read and so here goes.
(BTW, book suggestions are always welcome. I'm needing something new to sink my teeth into.)

Roxy Reads 2009

Many of you know that I like--um, no, love-- to read. And if you're my friend on goodreads you know that I have read a lot of books in my life time (though I am ashamed to admit to reading some of them). When I was in 5th grade, my teacher had us keep track of the books we read on a list. I kept this up through junior and some of high school. I eventually stopped because, along with reading, I also really enjoy re-reading books (maybe this is the reason I really don't mind spoilers; if I like it, I'll keep reading anyway. I've read the Hobbit and LOTR something like 5 times each and the Harry Potters more than I remember and . . . alright, back on topic).

"Why put a book on a list more than once?" I said. So, I stopped listing, but I kept reading and re-reading.

Last year I decided to keep track of the books I read during the year here on my blog. It was fun and satisfying to list a book the minute I had finished it. It also was a good record of how I spent a lot of my time. And I did spend a lot of it reading. Just go back and look.

So, I'm doing it again this year. I just finished the first book of 2009 (incidentally, it is the first one I have read in 2 months, so I didn't spend all of 2008 reading).

My Reading Blog 2008 (Constantly Updated)

I get into ruts. Sometimes the rut is baking cookies: I bake cookies every day for a week or two. Sometimes it's watching TV. Well, it's TV on DVD since I don't get reception, I don't pay for cable, and the dish attached to my house was blown off in a major wind storm (not that I paid for dish either). The DVD's get me into more of a rut because I'll watch one season of M*A*S*H in just one day.

The current, ongoing, never seeming to stop, has my husband utterly frustrated rut has been reading. Not just reading, but reading mostly YA books. They are the ones that have helped me wind down the most recently. Other book genres have snuck in, but not many. Also, I've been reading aloud The Chronicles of Narnia to my kids to help THEM wind down at night, though that stopped when I caught a cold In February and hasn't started again.

I thought I would keep track of all the books I've read this year. If this rut continues I might hit 52 books this year before Kristina (Monday, fiveawesomegirls). Here's my list so far:
