This year has not been one for reading. My brain hasn't been able to handle it. After having maxiofacial surgery last September, along with prepping my family to move across two states, prepping my house to sell, moving, selling my house, building a new one, along with all the day-to-day stuff, my brain has been too full, too stressed, and too worn out to even look at a book.
Sometime around June I realized the last time I finished a book happened to be November 2014. I decided then I would extend my book reading hiatus until November 2015--a full year. December 1st came and I checked a few books out of the library. They held my interest but didn't ignite a spark. Then the power went out for half a day just a few days before Christmas. I spent the the time snuggled in bed, reading. Still, it took a couple of days to finish the book as my attention waned. By the time I actually finished it early in the morning on Christmas Eve, it had been over 13 months since I finished a book. I don't think that's ever happened before.
Now it's been a few more days and I've finished another. Hurray for juvenile fiction! Hurray for book series that are finished! I've got a few more in a stack on my bed to read. Maybe the spark has ignited.
